Alternative medicine encompasses all those
activities outside of contemporary medical
treatments that might have a healing or
other beneficial affect on someone.
These alternative treatments include:
- Herbal or folk medicine,
- faith and new age healing,
- massage,
- acupuncture,
- chiropractic,
- homeopathy and
- naturopathy
Some people with mesothelioma have stated that
they believed alternative treatments had a relaxing
effect as they address not only the actual symptoms
but could also impact the emotional, mental and
spiritual spheres.
If any of the above treatments are pursued alongside
'normal' treatments they are labeled complementary
and many with mesothelioma chose to have this
parallel therapy.
